Jay Golden has a dozen years of experience creating media that connects, informs and inspires. He is currently the Vice President of New Media at SustainLane, an independant online media company in San Francisco which promotes green living through a variety of original media properties. Jay recently created The Green Gorilla, the web channel that features the pilot episode for the show “Gorilla in the Greenhouse,” aimed at inspiring kids to take real-world steps towards a healthier planet. The show is set in a magical greenhouse in San Francisco and features a visionary green gorilla and four kids who use their imagination, their network and their music to tackle the environmental challenges facing their generation. “Gorilla in the Greenhouse” is Golden’s writing debut.

In his previous role as Entertainment Producer at Free Range Studios, Golden directed production for a dozen social action web shorts such as “The Mouth Revolution,” “Sam Suds and the Case of the Poison Plastic,” and “The Da Versity Code.” An all-hats producer for clients such as Participant Productions, Harvard Center for Health and the Global Environment, and the American Civil Liberties Union, Golden also served the roles of account director, animation director, concept writer, and voiceover artist.

Combining creative vision with business acumen, Golden has built departments and established profitability in several start-up companies. Golden increased revenues several-fold as founding Producer and Business Development Director for the web and multimedia company Panmedia; there he also handled business operations and wrote for Learn2.com, an early learning site that provided important life lessons to a mid-nineties web audience. As music video producer for Shockwave.com, he matched major label bands such as Duran Duran, Phish, and Motley Crue with top-level flash animators for the most popular entertainment site on the web during the boom times.

Following September 11th, Golden traveled 16,000 miles to produce an oral history project of America, interviewing people of all walks of life, holding roundtables at schools, kitchen tables and community centers, and gathering biographies. The interactions Golden had on this journey, in addition to his travels to nearly four dozen countries, have fused a global perspective and unrelenting commitment to a sustainable planet for future generations.
